Playing doctor.
We got a pool pass again this year. A few times, Sam had a weird reaction after we were done swimming...
Some friends hosted a 4th of July party.
We flew to Utah for some family reunions! We got there a day or two early. At one of the restaurants, I thought the light made Afton's eyes look so beautiful so I had to take a picture.
Then the boys wanted in on it, too.
We met up with a Texas friend who was also in Utah to visit family. Some of our kids had never met but they played well together.

Sam and Harrison were good buddies before we moved to VA.
From the park, we could see where Dan would be climbing the next day with a guide - up Mount Olympus outside of Salt Lake. He ended up loving it! (And apparently Alex Honnold was there the day before.)
From there we drove to Heber City, where the giant lodge was which housed all of the Cheney aunts, uncles, and cousins for the next four days. It's called Timber Moose lodge and it's amazing!

One day we took pictures.
The tire swing was a big hit. There was also an indoor pool, air hockey, ping pong, lincoln logs, an inflatable bouncehouse, and a hot tub!

One afternoon, Candice and I took my kids (she was childless on this trip) to Park City to ride the alpine coaster.

We mostly just hung out at the cabin. Dan drove Candice and me to the outlets one morning, but I felt rushed and didn't find much. I loved just being with so much family that I hadn't seen in a long time. Near the end, they were trying to figure out how/when to make the next reunion happen. Hopefully it's not too long.
The last morning and the view down to the lake that's owned by our church and is used for girls camp.
Mom and Dad watched our kids so that Dan and I could attend the temple since the DC temple is currently closed. We did a session at the Bountiful Temple.
Mom and Dad took the kids to the Hogle Zoo. The kids loved it.
After that, we said goodbye to my parents and went on a hike with the kids to Cecret Lake. The weather was so beautiful!
The lake itself was somewhat underwhelming.
On the way back down we saw an elk. And a nice woman offered to take a family pic.
The wildflowers were so beautiful. I think we saw at least three brides up there taking pictures.
From our hike, we drove to Draper, where Dan's family had rented a home for a Durst reunion. I loved the views of mountains everywhere!
Each night the adults played games while the kids played ping pong and video games downstairs. Heather's, Matt's (minus Amy), and Adam's families all came, as well as Dan's parents. Erin and Clark didn't spend the night, but they came up from Provo frequently, too.
The next day we took a tour of BYU's campus.
While the big kids went to take a closer look at the Eyring Science building, I took Afton and Eli to bowl in the Wilk. While we were bowling, my cousins and Uncle Bry walked by, so it was fun to see them again. (We had just seen them at the Cheney reunion.)

Had to stop at the Creamery. Twice, I think.

Everyday it seemed like we all went our separate ways, doing our own thing, until we'd meet up again in the evening. So one day we took the kids to lunch at Gandolfo's - where Dan and I had our first real date for lunch about 15 years before. It had closed after we left Provo, then someone reopened it.
We hiked to the top of Y mountain. I'd only ever gone to the bottom of the Y before this, I think. Sam complained that he was going to die the entire time, until we got to the top. Then he was fine. These are the kids sitting on the rock where Dan proposed.

Where it all began - where Dan and I went to look at the stars but Dan had forgotten the eye piece so we sat there talking for a long time and held hands on the way back down. And where he took me later (April 14, 2004) to propose. Love that man so much.

Sunday after church with Erin and Clark, we took the kids on a drive. Stopped at campus and drove the Alpine Loop.

Our last day of the trip, we drove up to Salt Lake and hiked to Ensign Peak.
Then made a quick stop for lunch at City Creek Center and got to see the temple.
While in Utah, we also got to attend Lucy's baptism and have Durst family pictures taken. It was such a fun trip!
