DUCK! Part 1 because I have too many pictures

The day after school got out, we woke up early and headed out to Duck, North Carolina for the Cheney family reunion of 2016.

We tried to beat the traffic and we did for the most part, but once we got to the Outer Banks, traffic was crawling and it took forever to go those last few miles. My parents rented a fantastic beach house within walking distance of the ocean. Its decor was outdated, but it had lots of space and awesome decks as well as a pool and a volleyball court (which we didn't use except to bury the "treasure" from the kids' treasure hunt).

We got there Saturday and couldn't check in for a while, so we ate lunch and drove around a bit until check-in time. Then we emptied out the van and walked down to the beach to check it out.
I'm so good at selfies, right?

Sunday we went to church. It was so full of visitors that my sister and her family, as well as my mom, had to sit on the stand during sacrament meeting.

Monday we played at the beach and then had family pictures taken.
We bought this little kiddie pool for Afton and Eli, who aren't as keen on the water as Sam is.

Carter and Sam were inseparable all week. So glad they get along so well and have so much fun together.

Sherri and Kirk.

Mermaids.

My people.

Eli looked like this a lot when we went to the beach.

Meanwhile Judy was all smiles.

Sam working on one of many "hot tubs" with Carter and Wendy. Uncle Kirk did most of the digging.

For some reason Dan re-buried her facing the other way. Or maybe she can spin her head about 180 degrees... I'll let you figure it out.

These next few must be from a different day since Judy's bathing suit if different. Maybe just from after lunch on the same day?

Professional picture time. Here are the two that we picked out.

Love them!

I also snapped some of my own while the photographer was doing his thing.

And thanks, Ryan, for taking a picture of me and Dan.

I'd forgotten about having to sit on the stand during church... NIGHTMARE.
