My Getaway to San Antonio
Hey folks, Sam here. I decided that my parents needed a little time alone together before Dad starts work on Tuesday, so I took a nice little trip down to San Antonio, Texas.
The first day, I drove down and checked in to my swanky hotel. My Grandpa Cheney would have loved it! It had free popcorn and two free alcoholic drinks every day. (He would have loved the popcorn, not the alcohol!) Don't worry. I'm on an all-milk diet. Gotta look good for the ladies, you know. The hotel's breakfast was off the charts, too. But again... milk does this body good.
After checking in, I strolled along the famous Riverwalk. There were lots of overpriced restaurants and lots of tourists, but it was really pretty and fun to see. I got pooped out pretty early so I hit the sack.
The second day, I went to two of San Antonio's five missions - Mission San Jose and Mission Concepcion.
Then I lightened things up a bit and stuck my head out of a hole in the wall they used to stick cannons through.
Later I took a siesta and then went back to the Riverwalk to take a tour on one of their boats. As you can tell, the tourguide was a snoozer!
On my last day in San Antonio, I went to the Alamo. I saw a knife that belonged to one of my ancestors who fought at the Alamo, but I wasn't allowed to take a picture.
It was a pretty fun trip and I think my parents enjoyed their time together alone. Until my next trip, adios, amigos!

what are you saying, grandpa cheney would have loved the hotel room because of the free alcoholic drinks? i love these pictures. esp the one where you make it look like he can sit up all by himself, and the one where he is sticking his head through the hole. so presh. i like the riverwalk.
Those are pretty darn cool photos you're a groovy kid, but I would like to point out that the tone of this post had a familiar sort of feel... hmmmm.... Hi folks, Sam here.... hmmmm.
I was laughing out loud the whole time i was reading this...nice trip Sam! I hope your parents had fun on their own while you traipsed around San Antonio by yourself!
Looks like you had lot of fun Sam!!!
I could use some pointers on how to get my kids to leave on a weekend trip without the parents. Sam is just so independent. Good luck with the new job Dan!
Definitely a fan of the wall picture. Hope you're having so much fun!
It's always good to take a moment to reflect. Good for you.
Cute post! I love the perspective of the trip from Sam.
